Existing Sites
Blades
Most repairs with existing sites are due to lightning strikes
commonly affecting the tip end of the blade. The WES team
performs most of these repairs up in the air; with the use
of the wind cage. Internal and external blade inspections
on lighting strikes are the WES teams’ first steps to
better assess the condition of the blade(s). Then, leading-edge
erosion is evaluated to determine what type of processes WES
will perform for associated repairs.
Nacelle
Lightning strikes on the Nacelle and damages caused by deicing
of the blades on regions with extreme cold weather are handled
by the WES team up in the tower.
Spinner
Typical damages to the spinner are caused as a result of Lightning
strikes which the WES team will quickly assess and repair
on-site.
